About Me

My name is Kara, and I'd like to share a little bit about my own fitness journey.  When I was in college, I gained the freshman 15.  (Except it was more like 40 pounds.)  I was unhappy with how I looked and felt.  Partway through college, I decided to take charge of my health.  I started eating healthier and started exercising.  I completed my first half marathon in the summer of 2016, and after that, I was hooked on training.  I went on to compete in several more half marathons, a full marathon, and two triathlons.  I lost all the weight I gained in college.  I was training for my second full marathon when I got a stress fracture and had to stop running so much.  I got into strength training sports about a year later. I competed in my first powerlifting meet in 2019 and placed first in my division, setting four Tennessee state records.  Wanting a new challenge, I decided to compete in olympic weightlifting later that year.  I worked hard to learn the technical lifts and qualified to compete in the Arnold in 2020.

When I'm not lifting, I enjoy working as a teacher at a middle school, spending time with my husband and two cats, and dabbling in woodworking.

I'm excited to meet you and help you accomplish your goals.  Whether you are looking to lose weight, build muscle, or get stronger and feel confident, I know I can help you work towards a healthier you!
